A narrative also plays a huge factor in the press you get as a musician. Blogs, magazines, and freelance writers/interviewers are all in the business of sharing stories. Sure, they’ll review your music, but what they really need for a successful article is some kind of hook. A great soundproofing technique my bandmate leverages is to use two separate rooms for recording. One room contains the microphones and the source of the music, and the other room contains the recording gear (and thus any noise the computer or tape machines may themselves create).

The tone on these loop chords is so low and pillowy, I don’t really know what to call them. I think I’m hearing them as D♭ and Cm. I’m sure the key we’re in is A♭ major because of the melody, but that means it’s a IV and a iii chord — there’s no tonic chord to establish the key, in keeping with the modern anti-establishment trends we’ve been tracking.
