This test that you can perform at home is important for two reasons. Firstly, it demonstrates how, when we talk about phase, we’re describing the relative relationship between the peaks and troughs of different waveforms and how they affect the cumulative volume. Secondly, the phase flip demonstrated above is one of the most common ways an (aspiring) audio engineer will relate to phase. Because simply inverting the phase of a signal can make so much of a difference to how it interacts with other signals, this functionality is built into a lot of audio equipment and is a cornerstone of good recording and mixing practice.

“No Limit”: I’m going with the track itself here, not the video, which is over six minutes of some more wordsmiths taking their turns. Not sure whether to call the “get some money” bit a pre-, post-, bridge, or a refrain: maybe not a bridge because it appears too early, and not a pre- as it’s after the chorus. I’m going with a post-chorus, as its repetition is too long for a refrain, and we’ve already got a chorus. The post-chorus (as we saw last year) is becoming a less and less rare animal in the form kingdom. Lastly, how could you not love all those beat drop-outs in Cardi’s verse, and all those 64th notes in the beat in general?

This is just a modern version of the previous one. This form, the Verse-Chorus, is pretty self-explanatory. Your verses should lead into a summarizing chorus that ties everything together. This is an extremely popular song structure right now, and has been for many years, and one that every songwriter should master.

Chorus america

You can hear how popular this song really was in Live at the Apollo by listening to how bonkers the crowd goes during that track. But while their faith may have been restored, they still didn’t see Brown as anything more than a single artist, inconsistent at best.

This Weezer tribute is a true chiptune classic. The lo-fi synth medium really helps emphasize the band’s knack for coming up with poppy, catchy, melodic rock hooks.

“Thunder”: The “All the Diatonics” Award goes to this song, with all six main diatonics used! Every chorus is a little different lengthwise, so that’s cool, too. The bridge is really an instrumental, but I’m still calling it a bridge because of the new harmonic material.

Oh, KanTay (I promise I didn’t make that up, and I am already regretting using it). Before all of this “Famous” garbage happened, Taylor Swift and Kanye West had a hilarious run-in at the VMA’s way back in 2009. Well, not hilarious for them. But super funny for the rest of the world watching.

Word quickly spread about Takeo Ischi and he became known as the “Japanese yodeler” (“Der japanische Jodler”). Not a creative name, but you get the point. He returned to Japan, met a nice girl and proposed to her by, you guessed it, yodeling. They married and had five kids while Ischi solidified his role as one of the world’s most preeminent yodelers. He’s largely credited with bringing the culture of yodeling to Japan, at least modestly. That pretty much brings us up to speed.

This is still sectional, but each section happens linearly, without repetition. You can represent this sort of form as something like: Section A, B, C, D, etc.

After this case, Fogerty filed a countersuit against Zaentz to cover his attorneys’ fees. This case went to the Supreme Court in Fogerty v. Fantasy, Inc. (1993), which ruled that Fogerty would receive recompense without even having to prove that the original case was trivial.

With overwhelmingly positive results, we’re happy to share a few select testimonials of Soundfly’s Beginner Harmonic Theory course directly from our students.

As for that editorial coverage, the best case scenario is to have your event previewed by local tastemakers and curators — essentially anyone who makes lists that look like: “Best Shows to See This Week!” or “What’s Coming up This Weekend!” Send out a press release to local or regional music and news outlets, and make sure to include information about each band with links to their music and social media accounts. Big blogs and publications are great, but finding smaller highly-curated outlets will give you a better chance of actually driving traffic to your event page.

This is actually a really common method for tons of artists and topliners. There’s a great “making of” video on YouTube of Jon Bellion and how he developed the songs and lyrics for some of his songs on his record, The Human Condition.
